Why read about the books I read?

There are lots of great reasons to read about the books I read. Here are a few:

  • Find a book to add to your to-read list, or a book to definitely cross off of it.

  • It’s fun to hear me rant about books I hated, especially if you agree with me!

  • I opine instead of summarizing, so instead of just reading what you’d get from a book’s inside cover anyway, you get to hear whether or not I actually liked it and why.

  • Do you enjoy doing things vicariously? My goal is to read 100 books a year or more, so you’ll get a lot of vicarious reading done if you subscribe.

  • Have a very strong opinion to share about these books when they come up in conversation, even if you haven’t actually read them yet.

What books do I read?

I read mostly fiction, with the occasional exception. My favorite genres to read and critique include but aren’t limited to contemporary fiction, classic literature, British mysteries, sci-fic/fantasy (emphasis on the fantasy), and YA.

I like to think of my reading taste as “high, low, whack” — I love to mix good-for-my-brain literature with junk food books, and I love (and will make myself finish) truly awful books, because I love getting to write a righteously angry review.

What else will happen if you subscribe?

You’ll get one newsletter a month and nothing else except for my affection. If you suggest a book for me to read and review, I’ll probably do it!

You might even be inspired to tell your friends to subscribe, too.
